This series is so good. It's absolutely worthy of all the hype, which I can't often say. I don't know what else I can add to the glowing reviews here, and I suspect my review will probably get lost in the shuffle, but I just read this last night and was compelled to praise it.

The best compliment I can give this book is that I'm in no rush to see exactly where the story is going. I've just been enjoying the ride. This is very rare for me. I don't really like ongoing, serialized storytelling (which might sound odd coming from an avid comic book reader, but it's true). There's something about an ongoing story-- whether it be comic books, TV shows, an ongoing series of novels, etc.-- that's inherently unsatisfying. For the most part, if the series is wildly popular it ends up getting overextended to the point of dilution, and if the story is unpopular it doesn't get the chance to reach its natural conclusion.
