Great Main Character, Somewhat of a Weak Plot
I was completely enchanted by the main character, Flavia de Luce and this book in general – at least most of the way through.

After a while, I did find myself becoming a bit tired of the constant sinister warnings, “be afraid, be very afraid – but I can’t tell you why.” There is way too much suspicion and suspense and not enough reasons for it, and certainly, by the end, not enough explanation. Let me clarify –

Flavia de Luce, the heroine of several previous books, is a 12-year-old girl who can (rather tritely) be referred to as “precocious.” She’s brilliant and, again, I’m sure reviewer after reviewer has spoken of her being “wise beyond her years.” (Really, I’m trying to find a more clever and original way of saying it, but then, I’m a reader and reviewer, not a great author and that’s why you’re reading my words for free.)
