Read with an open mind
As a fan of Ghost Adventures I have to say that I did enjoy this book, perhaps more so than his first one and think most GA fans would agree. He has a very conversational way of writing and it's a fast read, filled with humor, creepy stories and philosophical views about spirituality, the meaning of life and the mystery of death. Zak is extremely passionate about his work and even if you are a non-believer (though you probably wouldn't be reading this in the first place) you can't help but be intrigued and drawn into his stories because of this enthusiasm. As a believer in the paranormal, I still found some of the experiences hard to believe on the one hand (because I haven't had anything similar happen to me) but Zak comes across as so authentic and honest that even the more incredible and wild stories about possessions and demons that first had me thinking, yeah, right, left me a bit uneasy and later thinking, hmmm, maybe I'm wrong. If you're a mom, you need this book!

The writer of Ecclesiastes warns, "the writing of many books is endless, and excessive devotion to books is wearying to the body." As a confirmed bibliophile, I can attest to this truth! But once in awhile, there's a book written that, rather than wearying one's body, brings renewed strength and vigor to it. This book by Sally Clarkson is one of those. Rather than another tome detailing all we should be doing as moms, Sally uses her platform to paint a picture of the whys behind the whats. Very disappointed - confused by the 5-star reviews.
As a stay-at-home mom of two and the bill-payer of my household, I could not relate to this book at all. The author is all over the place with stories and Bible verses, that don't even match up to each other or to the topic of each chapter. I am an easy sell on a book - I liked this one because of the title and the cover. The title of this book should be: "Long-winded stories about the mistakes I made in my quest a designer lifestyle." I can't relate to the author's life at all. She has some social anxiety issues that had her moving her family to new cities frequently, and then the kicker was when she said her husband became a stay-at-home dad so she could BLOG. DO WHAT? And I am to take FINANCIAL advice from this woman? She also babbles on and on about her lack of confidence as a writer - which seems strange in a PUBLISHED book on the topic of saving money. She's all over the place - the chapters start on one topic and veer so far off course with gossipy stories...

Does anyone proofread anymore??

I really wanted to love this book, but there are some major issues. The Table of Contents does not match up to the actual sections in the book. Also, pages 609-640 are completely missing. (This is the entire "T" and "U" of the "Best Plants, A to Z" section of the book).

Considering I found these errors within 10 minutes of opening the book, I cannot imagine how many more I have yet to discover. I am terribly disappointed at the shoddy editing - no doubt it will cost Southern Living plenty to do a reprint. I am sending this back in hopes that they will come out with a revised version later.
