I really wanted to like this book, but I was just not that impressed. There are some definite positives - I like the fact that it is ringbound so that it lays flat when you are trying to use it. It is well marked with nutrition information and dietary restrictions (e.g. gluten free). It also uses easy to find ingredients and the recipes are not difficult. So why only three stars? I just found the recipes to be a bit boring and unimaginative. What drives me to try a recipe is a unique flavor combination or lots of spices. These are all rather plain...flourless chocolate cake, beef and bean chili, garlic chicken with gravy, etc. There was just nothing there that I had not seen before. And, in many cases, the only difference in the recipes was to use a low fat ingredient. I prefer to use foods in their natural form and low fat ingredients are generally too processed. An amazing book ruined by Amazon’s Packaging

First of all, let me say the edition is exquisite. Oversized, with good paper and truly amazing binding. This is definitely the way to collect Saga.

On the other hand, let me warn Amazon customers. Amazon ships this book in its infamous cardboard folders with no protection whatsoever. And it’s quite a thick book that barely fits in the aforementioned cardboard folder, so every hit the box takes during the trip to your house is going to be absorbed by the book.

Every single corner of the book’s cover and back cover, except for one, was dented and even coming apart. A real shame. I repeat, Amazon ships this book with no protection whatsoever, so be wary, especially if you do not reside in the US.

I like having this in my lab coat
I get a new version of this reference book every year. I like having this in my lab coat, because it has several distinct advantages over a pharmacy app. First, its just faster to look things up in this book. I have races with the residents to prove it to them. By the time you get your phone out, get on the wifi (cell service is awful in the hospital) and get the app running, I have all the information.

Among the other big advantages, is that it shows the drugs in relation to its class. Patient can't afford that new ARB? Look at the other ones in that section to see if there is one that's cheaper! It also has dosing instructions (with peds instructions!), major side effects, and off label uses which is something the apps never seem to provide. It also has numerous useful tables, such as dermatomes, QTc prolongating meds and the like.

It seems like a good start for a self-learner in high school.
I haven't started using it yet, but I only skimmed through it and I think it's beginner-friendly for a self-learner like me. There may be a few things that could need a little more explanation in the first chapter, but since I know a little about programming in general I sort of figured out what they were talking about. I'm happy to know that this is the most recent version of the book and I'm trying to aim for the test next year even though I'll be a senior. I got it on the earliest expected date too. The definitions could be a little more in depth but I know it's really a supplement for a real AP Computer Science class. If you want to study it yourself when your school doesn't offer it, I would recommend this book as long as you have some basic understanding of programming. I didn't even dare to attempt the diagnostics test in the beginning because I have no clue how Java works since it's a little different from C++, which I'm a little more comfortable with. Like the first reviewer, I teach AP Chemistry and this is the review book I'll be recommending to my students. I spent an hour or so at a local bookstore comparing review books and, hands-down, this is the best one* out there for the 2015 exam. Why? Because..

1) The content reflects the new exam curriculum and only that curriculum. Some other review books have not removed unneeded information (like nuclear chemistry) or added new material (like photoelectron spectroscopy). Why they haven't is beyond me. Perhaps publishers don't want the expense of paying the authors to rewrite the content and questions.

2) The content is organized as Big Ideas, like the College Board curriculum document. Whether you agree that this way of organizing AP Chemistry makes sense, it's the structure used to write test questions. So reviewing it this way gives you the best chance of anticipating this year's test questions.

Great Overview of Entire History Course

I recently took an AP US History course and bought this book on previous experience with the AP World History book (which I got a five in).

This book is really handy because it internalizes the major eras of all the periods covered by the AP Exam. I found it particularly useful for the essay questions on the AP Test. However, I would discourage anyone from using this book if they are learning things from scratch without taking a history course. It's much better to take an accompanying US History course as this book tends to be more broad than others. Also, the "important" terms are bolded and indexed, making it extremely easy to search for specific terms in a period.

Beautiful book, same Prima errors.

This book is absolutely beautiful. The details are stunning, the book is sturdy. From front to back, it's beautifully put together and filled with art from the game. I can't fault it for looking beautiful.

Immediately, however, I noticed some errors on Prima's behalf. Most of it is how they have arranged the information, some of it is aesthetic issues. I have found one listing error, however, so far. Under enemies, the Peahat is not fully depicted, just its root. This does not bode well, but I'm still loving the guide's appearance overall.

Chris and Taya were our next door neighbors for most of the time the events in this book were taking place. While Chris has sanitized many of the events he was involved with, the book offers a seldom seen look into the trials and pains that American Forces, especially or SEALS endure along with their family and friends. There are no politics in this book, just a saga of the human side of war and conflict. For me it was a must read and for Chris, I'm sure it was way of purging nightmares and letting the public see that the men who protect us are just as human as we are.
