I am only half way through at the moment but just have to say this book is an eye opener! I have read tons of similar articles, studies and books all related to what Darin talks about but none in this manner. Very straight forward, to the point and it feels like he is speaking directly to you while you are reading it. This is a must read for anyone looking to improve their health in the simplest manner.

I had no idea this book would be so fun to read. Although POGUE'S BASICS might be classified as a "Reference" book, do not be fooled. It is a practical guide, with tons of useful tips--it's for regular folks, not something that a professor of engineering might use. I found it fun to just browse around the tips, digging further into subjects that interested me.

My favorite tip is "Bring a wet phone back from the dead." Perhaps I would have thought of using a vacuum cleaner to suck out the water, but I doubt I would have thought of putting the phone into a bowl of dry rice. The suggestions on getting rid of static on cordless phones were also very good. I always thought the static had something to do with the frequency of the cordless phone, and the author confirmed my suspicions.

Here's one I always wondered about--"You can recover photos you've already deleted." I've accidentally deleted something before, and struggled with how to fix it. I always thought there...

A let-down

I like Wes Moore, but this sequel to his earlier memoir is a lot of Moore blowing his own horn and hitting some flat notes in doing so. A truly good book could have risen from this but it's like an outline that's not filled in. The humility the author can exhibit isn't here. If you've read his first book, you might be better off re-reading it than reading this one. Of course, if you're a Wes Moore fan, you will read this and maybe you won't be as disappointed in it as I was. General readers would be better off to read the earlier book rather than this, or at least before this one.
